Group 2 members Provide ICS300 and ICS400 to 621st Contingency Response Wing

The week of 29th November through 3rd December CAWG Group 2 members had the privilege of providing ICS 300 and 400 instruction to active duty Air Force personnel from the 621st Contingency Response Wing (Co-located Travis AFB CA and McGuire AFB NJ) at their Group HQ located at Travis AFB.
New unleaded Fuel for Civil Air Patrol Aircraft in San Francisco Bay Area

On Nov 18, Civil Air Patrol (CAP) completed the paperwork required to use unleaded fuel in its Cessna 182T aircraft based at Reid-Hillview Airport of Santa Clara County (RHV - San Jose, CA). This is the first aircraft in CAP’s approximately 560-aircraft fleet to make the transition to unleaded aviation gasoline. The switch comes less than a month after Textron Aviation, which manufactures this model of aircraft, announced that this aircraft was approved to use unleaded fuel.

Yesterday I went flying. Normally that wouldn't be anything unusual, but yesterday was not a normal day. It was Wednesday, September 12, the day after the attack on the World Trade Center. Flying yesterday was a bizarre and emotional experience. I'm writing this account both to share the experience with others and as a record for myself of that peculiar and difficult day.
On this 20th anniversary of the worse terrorist attack on American soil, San Francisco Bay Group 2 recognizes one of their own: Jason M. Dahl, Captain, United Airlines Flight 93 (N591UA) 2 Nov 1957 - 11 Sep 2001.
From 14 to 21 June 2021, two San Francisco Group 2 Check Pilot Examiners, Maj Jeffrey Ironfield and Capt Keith Breton, both from Tri-Valley Composite Squadron 156, spent seven 12-hour days training Hawaii Wing (HIWG) pilots.
20 cadets attend California Wing’s Group 2 NRA Marksmanship event in Hayward, CA.
Representing seven of the eight Squadrons with cadets in San Francisco Group 2 and ranging in age from 12 to 19, these cadets fired over 2000 rounds from .22LR bolt-action rifles as they earned their Marksmanship badges. One cadet stated they waited over three years to participate in an event like this and was eager to get started.

Representing seven of the eight Squadrons with cadets in San Francisco Group 2 and ranging in age from 12 to 19, these cadets learned the basics of firearm safety and rifle marksmanship in the classroom before they take to the range on June 20th. Combined they will fire 2800 rounds from .22LR bolt-action rifles as they earn their Marksmanship badges.
Civil Air Patrol Takes to the Skies to exercise their Airborne Public Address System

At 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 24, 2021 the National Weather Service activated a test of the Civil Air Patrol airborne public address system (APAS) as part of their Tsunami Warning Communications Test. The Civil Air Patrol launched three aircraft over Northern California and our distinctive Red, White, and Blue aircraft provided the broadcasted message to the Northern California Coast of “this is a test of the Civil Air Patrol public address system".
